Narratives are patterns with purpose. Systems impose patterns — this caused that, these people are like this, the future will be like this. The pattern serves the system, not truth.

The Practice
- The pattern identification — What story is being told?
- The purpose question — Who benefits from this pattern?
- The alternative pattern — What other story fits the facts?
- The fact check — Which parts are actually true?
